Cake is a good reason, right?
I must really love this guy, inventing cakes and all.
Let's break out the powdered sugar! Europeans insist on selling things in tiny, tiny packets, which makes you feel like a cow when you buy eight of them.
Speaking of which, have you ever made your own brown sugar? I can find it here (in tiny tiny bags), but I prefer to make it myself, using 1 tbsp of molasses for every cup of sugar. It's cheaper too!
My condensed milk can says (in a few different languages, including Arabic) that it goes well with coffee or fruit salad...but I'm going to stick to frosting. Yep. Definitely frosting.
Combine the brown sugar, butter, condensed milk, and vanilla, and boil them until they get thick and caramel-y.
My cake went like so, from bottom to top: coffee cake | mocha frosting | coffee cake | coffee frosting | vanilla cake | vanilla icing | vanilla cake.
And you've got yourself the ultimate birthday cake!
Or, you know, whomever.
Have a lovely week (with lots of cake), and if you haven't yet, tell Sam what a wonderful, quarter-of-a-century-old guy he is!
